Sturtevant -- Mrs. Martha Mathilda Primuth, 95, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 30, 2009.
She was born in Lena, WI, on June 6, 1914, to the late Gottfried and Pauline (nee: Kading) Daft. She lived most of her life in Racine. She was united in marriage to Adolph Primuth in Oconto on June 5, 1937.
She was a member of Racine Bible Church.
She is survived by her four children, Sherry (Tom) Franseen, Ron (Juliet) Primuth, Carole (George) Mathieus and Patricia (Dave) Truelsen; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Miss Helen Daft.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Primuth, on Jan. 12, 2006; and a daughter, Mary Primuth, on Sept. 4, 1998.
Funeral services will be held at Racine Bible Church, 12505 Spring St., on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Miesel officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may meet with the family at the church on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to Racine Bible Church.

Joseph J. Hartmanstorfer
Joseph J. Hartmanstorfer, 45, died on Monday, June 29, 2009, of natural causes at his residence. He was born in Milwaukee, on July 15, 1963. Joe attended St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church and grade school, J.I. Case High School and served in the U.S. Army.
Most recently, he made his living as a professional painter. Joe will be missed for his love of cooking, his dedication to the Green Bay Packers, and his prowess at card games, especially cribbage and pinochle. His cheerful disposition and sense of humor entertained many in his life.
Joe is survived by his three sons, Specialist Christopher (Holly) Hartmanstorfer, serving in the U.S. Army stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany, Matthew, and Brian Hartmanstorfer. Immediate family members, including parents, John (Pat) Hartmanstorfer; siblings, Cindi (Bill) Pierson of Charles, Iowa, Chief Petty Officer Dan (Vicki) Hartmanstorfer, U.S. Navy, Retired, of Huntington, West Virginia, Becky (Dave) Ryan of Madison, Amy (Major Tom Matelski, U.S. Army, stationed in Afghanistan) Matelski of Tampa, Florida, Mary (Thomas) Sheldon of Menominee Falls, and Caroline Hartmanstorfer of Racine.
Joe also leaves behind his beloved godmother, Delores Jones.
Joe will be sadly missed by his special friend and life partner, Theresa Salinas, and her daughter, Kellie. As a member of a large extended family, Joe also leaves behind countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends who loved him.

Jim enjoyed woodworking, cabinet making, and photography; hobbies at which he was very accomplished. He served on the Board of Directors of Youth for Christ. Jim sang in many area churches and often accompanied Arvid Pederson, a well known local chalk artist.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Curt) Johnson of Sawer, MI; and son, William (Linda) Ballantyne of Eden Praire, MN; four grandchildren, Heather Johnson, Sung (Jade) Ji, Scott (Callie) Ballantyne, and Meredith Ballantyne; two great-grandchildren, Samuel Ji and Peyton Ballantyne; his brother; William Ballantyne of Waterford; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mary Louise (nee: Christensen) Tucker, 77, passed away at her home, surrounded with the love of her family, on Monday, June 29, 2009.
A lifetime resident, Mary was born in Racine on October 6, 1931, to the late Christ and Agnes (nee: Winther) Christensen. She graduated from Washington Park High School in 1950.
On June 25, 1955, in Epiphany Lutheran Church, Mary was united in marriage with the love of her life, Bernard “Bernie” Tucker. She was employed by Dremel Mfg. for 13 years before leaving to fulfill her lifelong dream of being a full-time mother. Years later, she worked part-time for Shoreline Leader and Ruud Electric.
Mary attended Epiphany Lutheran Church. Among her interests, she enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing and gardening. Above all, she loved and cherished nothing more than being at home in the surroundings of her entire family.
Surviving are her husband of over 54 years, Bernie; their treasured daughter, Carrie (Kyle) Johnson; sister, Helen (Sam) Kachichian; brothers, Jim (Hildegard) Christensen and Gordon (Martha) Christensen; sisters-in-law, Mabel Christensen and Norma Terry; and many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.

Shirley Jane (nee: Nelson) Klamm, 88, passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha, on Monday, June 29, 2009.
Shirley was born in Racine on January 9, 1921, to the late David and Dorothy (nee: Lawton) Nelson. On May 21, 1938, she was united in marriage to Karl Klamm, who preceded her in death on January 7, 1998.
Although her first priority was raising her ten children, Shirley was employed for many years at American Motors until her retirement in 1981. She also owned and operated Shirley’s Antiques in Racine.
With a profound faith in God, she was a proud member of Fellowship of Christian Believers where she enjoyed sharing her faith. Shirley was a people person who loved helping anyone in need. Above all, Shirley loved and cherished being in the midst of her family and friends.

Thomas E. Hanson
Thomas E. Hanson, 56, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2009, at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center following a brief battle with a rare form of Pneumonia following surgery.
Tom was born in Racine on September 10, 1952, the son of Leland “Lee” Hanson and Dolores “Dee” Hanson. After graduating from Salem Central High School in 1970, he attended the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse for a year. In 1971 Tom enlisted in the Marine Corps serving in the Philippines, Okinawa and Vietnam for Land Duty. His ship duties were aboard the Juneau and USS Okinawa. He attained the rank of Lance Corporal and was discharged in 1974. He was proud to be a Marine. Tom then attended UW-Parkside for a year. He loved working with wood and so he moved to the Fox Valley and became a building contractor. His last ventures were with Twin Disc, Jensen Metals and Michael Machine as a machinist. Tom was a lover of nature, an avid fisherman and a precise marksman with a bow and arrow.
Tom is survived by his two children, Camilla and Erik Gomez; his mother, Dolores Hanson; sister, Kären Peterson; nephew, Hans Peterson; and niece, Kirsten Horning. He was preceded in death by his father “Lee.”
Memorial service with full military honors for Tom will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Friday, July 10, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. Interment will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family have been suggested.

On September 8, 1934, in Racine he was united in marriage to Anna S. Yankech. Frederick was employed by Harley Davidson for many years until his retirement. He was an accomplished musician and enjoyed dancing but most of all he treasured time spent with his family. He will be deeply missed.

Isabell Virginia Smith
Mrs. Isabell V. Smith, 85, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on June 28, 2009.
Isabell (nee: Larrabee) was born in Dunn County to the late Jackson and Esther (nee: Guite) Larrabee on November 18, 1923. She lived in Racine for 60 years. In Racine, she was united in marriage to Eugene V. Smith on March 9, 1946. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1993.
Mrs. Smith was an active member of the Taylor Avenue Church of Nazarene. She was the Sunday School Secretary for over 40 years. Because of her service to the church she received the Distinguished Service Award. She was a homemaker who worked side by side with her late husband keeping the family bee business. She was also a member of the Bee Keepers Association.
Isabell is survived by three children, James (Cathy) Smith of Bailey, Colorado, Edward (Debra) Smith of Racine, and Dawn (Anders) Kamf of Buffalo, New York; four grandchildren, Christa Smith, Elizabeth Akright, James J. Smith, and Kirsten Smith; one great-grandchild, Jeremy T. Smith; two sisters and four brothers , Zilpha Brensdal, Alvina Stibgen, John (Mary) Larrabee, Harmon Larrabee, Ruben (Betty ) Larrabee, and Carl (Diane) Larrabee; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Isabell (nee: Larrabee) was born in Dunn County to the late Jackson and Esther (nee: Guite) Larrabee on November 18, 1923. She lived in Racine for 60 years. In Racine, she was united in marriage to Eugene V. Smith on March 9, 1946. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1993.Mrs. Smith was an active member of the Taylor Avenue Church of Nazarene. She was the Sunday School Secretary for over 40 years. Because of her service to the church she received the Distinguished Service Award. She was a homemaker who worked side by side with her late husband keeping the family bee business. She was also a member of the Bee Keepers Association.
Isabell is survived by three children, James (Cathy) Smith of Bailey, Colorado, Edward (Debra) Smith of Racine, and Dawn (Anders) Kamf of Buffalo, New York; four grandchildren, Christa Smith, Elizabeth Akright, James J. Smith, and Kirsten Smith; one great-grandchild, Jeremy T. Smith; two sisters and four brothers , Zilpha Brensdal, Alvina Stibgen, John (Mary) Larrabee, Harmon Larrabee, Ruben (Betty ) Larrabee, and Carl (Diane) Larrabee; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dolores Marie Legois, 80, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009, after a year-long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born June 5, 1929, in Racine, to Wallace and Marguerite (Nee: Drasen) Lemke. On January 15, 1949, she married Claude Legois in Racine.
Dolores worked for the City of Racine in the Water Department for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church. Dolores was an avid gardener and reader. She also enjoyed a good discussion on politics.

Ruth K. (Duemke) Kyle
Ruth L. Kyle, age 85, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Harmony Commons. Ruth was born in Menasha, WI, July 16, 1923, daughter of the late Herman and Eda (Nee: Hering) Duemke.
On September 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Gene W. Kyle who preceded her in death, February 23, 2007. Ruth was employed as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary’s Medical Center for many years until her retirement in 1981. Ruth was an active member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church where she served as Deacon and was a member of the church choir. She was also a charter member of the Racine Symphonic Chorus. Above all she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Irene “Wee” Rose Reimers, 79, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints on June 22, 2009. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 27, 1929, the daughter of Michael and Katarina (nee: Matijevich) Viljac.
Irene retired from Baxter-Travenol in Illinois after more than 10 years of service. She loved to golf at Countryside Golf Course in Mundelein, along with singing, dancing and music. Irene found most of her joy cooking, especially on Sundays surrounded by her family, while enjoying a good game of Scrabble.
Irene is survived by her loving sons, Phillip of Dallas, TX, Glen (Chris) of Aurora, IL, Gary of Plymouth, WI, and James of Dallas, TX; one sister, Julie Tamblyn of Clinton, MA; grandchildren, Jeremy (Kristin) Reimers, Erik Reimers, Aviation Technician Ashley Reimers, serving with the United States Navy, stationed on the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan, Alyssa, Kyle, Luke, Kristopher, and Katarina Reimers.

Edith “Edie” M. Andersen, age 76, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, at her residence. Edie was born in Racine, July 15, 1932, daughter of the late Arthur and Helen M. (Nee: Graham) Andersen.
Edie was a graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1950.” She received her Bachelor's Degree in teaching from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and taught 7th and 8th grades at Burdick School, Milwaukee for thirty-five years. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and belonged to the United Methodist Women. Edie was also a member of the Racine Garden Club, Local BPW Chapter, American Association of University Women (AAUW), member and past president of the Women’s Civic Council, and member and past president of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She enjoyed reading, needlework and traveling especially to Denmark and Holland. Above all Edie was a generous and loving person who spent her entire life caring for others. She will be deeply missed.

Attorney John W. Foley, age 79, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. John was born in Racine on July 31, 1929, son of the late Jeremiah J. and Rose I. (Nee: Welden) Foley.
John was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1947,” Marquette University and Marquette Law School. On April 18, 1959, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Karolyn A. Smith. John was an attorney and partner with Dye Foley Krohn & Shannon for 53 years until his retirement on December 31, 2007. John was a member and past president of the Racine County Bar Association, Marquette Law School Alumni Association, and the Wisconsin Bar Association. Always fascinated with politics he was an active member of the Republican Party.
John was also a member of the Racine Kiwanis Club and Racine Country Club. In his younger years he enjoyed downhill skiing and more recently enjoyed the game of golf. John was the foundation of his family and always proved to be a great source of love, strength and knowledge. Above all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Pat attended St. Norbert’s College and had served in the National Guard. He was employed as a semi truck driver by Ganton Technologies for a number of years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of UAW Local 627 and a member of the American Legion, Post 494. Pat was a board member of the Washington Highlands Condominium Assn. and also was a former auctioneer. He will be dearly missed.

Gerry Stirle
Gerry Stirle, 61, passed away at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee on Sunday morning, June 21, 2009.
Gerry was born in Racine on June 25, 1947, to the late Edmund and Helen Elizabeth (nee: Jensen) Stirle. A 1965 graduate of Washington Park High School, he went on to further his education at Gateway Technical College.
Gerry proudly served his Country with the United States Army, 14th Combat Engineer Battalion, in the Vietnam War. Though he tried his hand at various entrepreneurial endeavours, his primary career focus was in the commercial/industrial water treatment industry where he worked himself up from the factory to a Vice-Presidency.
On October 14, 1989, he was united in marriage with Rusty (nee: Smith). Family always came first for Gerry. He was a loving, caring and supportive husband, father, grandfather and brother. They were truly the “sunshine of his life.” He enjoyed a large circle of friends and appreciated each and every one of them. Gerry was a kind man with a subtle sense of humor who took time for everyone who touched his life.
Gerry loved fishing. As far as he was concerned, you just couldn’t beat a good day on the lake. Unless, or course, the Packers were playing, or it was time to go on another travel adventure with Rusty. Music soothed Gerry’s soul, especially Bob Dylan. He also enjoyed fantasy football, gambling and his dogs -- Cody and Kramer.

Gerry was born in Racine on June 25, 1947, to the late Edmund and Helen Elizabeth (nee: Jensen) Stirle. A 1965 graduate of Washington Park High School, he went on to further his education at Gateway Technical College.Gerry proudly served his Country with the United States Army, 14th Combat Engineer Battalion, in the Vietnam War. Though he tried his hand at various entrepreneurial endeavours, his primary career focus was in the commercial/industrial water treatment industry where he worked himself up from the factory to a Vice-Presidency.
On October 14, 1989, he was united in marriage with Rusty (nee: Smith). Family always came first for Gerry. He was a loving, caring and supportive husband, father, grandfather and brother. They were truly the “sunshine of his life.” He enjoyed a large circle of friends and appreciated each and every one of them. Gerry was a kind man with a subtle sense of humor who took time for everyone who touched his life.
Gerry loved fishing. As far as he was concerned, you just couldn’t beat a good day on the lake. Unless, or course, the Packers were playing, or it was time to go on another travel adventure with Rusty. Music soothed Gerry’s soul, especially Bob Dylan. He also enjoyed fantasy football, gambling and his dogs -- Cody and Kramer.

Sturtevant – Alvin E. Dahl passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - All Saints on Sunday, June 21, 2009.
Alvin Dahl was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, to the late Alfred and Carrie (nee: Ebsen) Dahl on June 11, 1931. He lived in Racine for over 50 years. In Racine, he was united in marriage to Virginia L. Roethe on March 16, 1972.

Roger Hergott, 79, passed away at the Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Sunday morning, June 21, 2009.
Roger was born in Moyeuvre – Grande, France, on July 25, 1929, to the late Alphonse and Marie-Augustine (nee: Becker) Hergott. He served in Morocco with the French Army.
On June 13, 1963, in France, Roger was united in marriage with the love of his life, Albine Denise Marengo. Shortly after, they moved to the United States.
Roger was employed by Racine Steel Castings until his retirement in 1991. He was a long-time member of St. Edward Catholic Church. An outdoor enthusiast, he was an award winning tennis player; enjoyed golfing, bicycling, cross-country skiing, ice skating and hiking. Roger was a phenomenal artist who created many paintings and carvings in his lifetime. He also enjoyed playing cards and board games. Above all, he was passionate about his family and was happiest when in their midst.
Surviving are his loving wife of over 46 years, Albine; their children, Denise Hergott of Racine; Muriel (fiancé, Dennis Boretsky) Hergott and Sylvie Hergott, both of Oak Creek; and Luc (Katrina) Hergott of Hartland; grandchildren, Michael Winkie and Colette Hergott; sister-in-law, Anne Marengo; and by other dear relatives and friends in the United States, France and Italy.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Lucien Hergott; foster brother, Raymond Esminger; and brother-in-law, Claude Marengo.

Rose M. (Celiesius) Hansen
Rose M. Hansen (Nee: Celiesius), age 88, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Hospitality Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Kenosha, WI.
She was born December 8, 1920, in Racine to the late Charles J. and Mary A. (Nee: Daleski) Celiesius. On April 18, 1942, Rose was united in marriage to “the love of her life” Howard W. Hansen at St. Casimir’s Church in Racine. In 2007 they celebrated their 65th anniversary with family and friends.
Most of her life was spent being a loving wife and mother. She also gave many years to the caring of her mother and father-in-law. Rose especially enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling with her husband, volunteering at Harmony Club, being with family and just appreciating the simple joys of life.
She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn M. Hansen of Racine; her nieces, Janet Geisner of Racine and Jean Fisher of San Diego; and other family members. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles and Frank Celiesius. In 2008 she lost her husband, Howard, and grieved his loss until her death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 29, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave., with Rev. Ronald Gramza assisted by Deacon Howard Wirtz. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Virginia was employed by Harry Chopyak’s Grocery for many years. Virginia's pastimes included camping and fishing, and she was an avid Packer fan. Harold Louis Nagel, 98, passed away peacefully at Oak Ridge Care Center on Friday, June 19, 2009.
Harold was born in Milwaukee on December 25, 1910, to the late William and Louise (nee: Bauch) Nagel. He has lived in Racine since 1927.
On September 14, 1935, in St. Lucy Catholic Church, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Alice E. Koeppen, who preceded him in death on March 22, 2007, after 71 years of marriage.
Harold was employed as an insurance agent with Prudential and pattern maker for George Gorton Machine for many years, retiring in 1974. He was a member and served as past-president of the Gorton Machine Social Club; vice-president on the board of directors for MCU Credit Union; co-owner and vice-president of Harben Mfg.; member of Machinists Union Local 437; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 286; and Businessmen’s Major League. Among his interests, Harold enjoyed bowling; golfing, especially with Ives Grove Senior League and Marsan League; and was an amateur baseball player having played on three championship teams – Dixon Sports, Badger Roofing and Gorton Machine.
Harold remained amazingly and completely independent in his own home until age 97. He loved nothing more than being in the surroundings of his entire family and extensive circle of friends.
Surviving are his grandchildren, Tria (Jim) Braun and Ted Durocher; great-grandchildren, Briara and Brody Braun; cousin, Beverly Rehbein; and many dear friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to his parents and wife, Harold was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Louise Durocher; and sister-in-law, Irene Chapman.

Charles 'Charlie' Manarino
Charles Manarino, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009, at the Becker-Shoop Center. Charles was born in Pennsylvania, February 5, 1910, son of the late Michael and Frances (nee: Matagrano) Manarino.
During World War II, he proudly served in the United States Army Air Force stationed in the Central Pacific in Saipan, Guam, and Hickam Field, and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a plumber at Willing Plumbing and J.I. Case Company for many years, retiring in 1977. Charles was a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post 1391, Case Local 180, and Plumbers Local 118.
Survivors include his sister, Helen Blasco of Warren, MI; nieces and nephews, Angeline (William) Bielefeldt, Patricia (Thomas) Simonson, and Dani Widmer, all of Racine; Kathleen Moralez of Sheboygan; nephews, Albert (Nancy) Volpintesta of Appleton, Michael Blasco, David (Kim) Blasco of Michigan, and other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary (Emil) Volpintesta, Carolyn (Gabriel) Presta, Bertha Halliday and two infant sisters; nephew Anthony (Joyce) Volpintesta; and brother-in-law, Anthony Blasco.

Edward P. Kuzia
Edward P. Kuzia, 93, passed away in Wheaton Franciscan Hospital-All Saints on Thursday, June 18, 2009. He was born in Racine on May 6, 1916, the son of the late Paul and Eleanora (nee: Ombreska) Kuzia.
Mr. Kuzia proudly served his country with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was stationed in New Guinea. On October 28, 1950, in Holy Name Church he was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Kothe. Mr. Kuzia had been employed by Dumore Corp. for over 42 years, retiring in 1985. Mr. Kuzia graduated from Marquette University. He was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #697 and a former member of St. Stanislaus Church. Mr. Kuzia enjoyed fishing, gardening, mushroom hunting, and was known to family and neighbors as the “Candy Grandpa.” His greatest love was the time spent with his family especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, of nearly 59 years, Dorothy; their children, Susan (John) Schliesmann, Barb (Mark) Lacke, Patricia (Gary) Meier, Kathy Kuzia, Mary (Jim) McDowell, Margie Kuzia, Randal Kuzia (Sandy Carreno), and Bill (Barrie) Kuzia; 22 grandchildren, Greg, Mike and Brad Schliesmann, Kara (Jeff) Batchelor, Heather (Steve) Weyda, Jamie (Josh) Hewitt, Christopher (Karin), Eric, Billy, Shannon, and Kaitlin Meier, Adrianne (Andy) Marinkovich, Jason (Merissa) Wemmert, David, Laura, and Christy Kuzia, Tricia (Juston) Love, Jake McDowell, Jay, Danny and Brady Kuzia; seven great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Grace and Sam Weyda, Athena, Alina and Jason Wemmert, and Jackson Meier. Mr. Kuzia enjoyed fishing, gardening, mushroom hunting, and was known to family and neighbors as the “Candy Grandpa.” His greatest love was the time spent with his family especially his grandchildren.Surviving are his wife, of nearly 59 years, Dorothy; their children, Susan (John) Schliesmann, Barb (Mark) Lacke, Patricia (Gary) Meier, Kathy Kuzia, Mary (Jim) McDowell, Margie Kuzia, Randal Kuzia (Sandy Carreno), and Bill (Barrie) Kuzia; 22 grandchildren, Greg, Mike and Brad Schliesmann, Kara (Jeff) Batchelor, Heather (Steve) Weyda, Jamie (Josh) Hewitt, Christopher (Karin), Eric, Billy, Shannon, and Kaitlin Meier, Adrianne (Andy) Marinkovich, Jason (Merissa) Wemmert, David, Laura, and Christy Kuzia, Tricia (Juston) Love, Jake McDowell, Jay, Danny and Brady Kuzia; seven great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Grace and Sam Weyda, Athena, Alina and Jason Wemmert, and Jackson Meier. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday, June 22, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and in the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.

Dominick 'Dom' Joseph Parise
Dominick ‘Dom’ Joseph Parise, 76, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 17, 2009. He was born in Kenosha on March 14, 1933, the son of Joseph and Gilda (nee: Missurelli) Parise.
Dom was a graduate of Kenosha High School, continuing his education; he received his Barber Degree from Molar Barber College in Chicago.
Dom Served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1955. He was a saxophone player with the 5thArmy band. On June 6, 1953, Dom was united in marriage to Loretta Litrenta in Racine. He owned and operated Dom Parise’s Barber Shop, located on Douglas Avenue for 51 years, retiring in 2006.
Dom is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Loretta; son, David of Franksville; grandchildren, David Jr., of Franksville, Abbey, Steven and Mitchell, all of Waukesha; brother, Dennis (Pam) Jahns of Kenosha; brother-in-law, Rocco Litrenta of Racine; sister-in-law, Rosemarie (Samuel) Pulice. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Loretta would like to thank her care-giving team, Barbara Solomon, Patti Stindle and Gina Christensen.

Howard Russell Johnson, 87, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, as the result of a heart attack.
A lifetime resident, Howard was born on the Meachem Farm here in Racine on December 9, 1921, to the late Herman and Soffie (nee: Christofferson) Johnsen.
On June 9, 1945, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Beverly Mae Jaskulske, who preceded him in death on April 15, 2003.
In his earlier years, Howard was employed by Cooper – Dixon Duck Farm. However, as an extremely talented ornamental iron railing fabricator, he worked for Nielsen Iron Works, from where he retired after a 30-year career.
Howard was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Among his interests, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, trying his luck at the casino, spending time in Upper Michigan, and helping family / friends with projects of all sorts. Above all, his first priority in life was always his treasured family.

Robert 'Bob' L. Hunter
Robert L. Hunter, age 84, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Wheaton-Franciscan Medical Center. Robert was born in Aurora, IL, on February 6, 1925, son of the late Jay L. and Bertha C. (Nee: Chandler) Hunter and had been a resident of Racine since 1949.
During World War II he proudly served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theatre. On August 31, 1946, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth L. Harkness who preceded him in death, January 31, 1996. Robert received a degree in engineering from the University of Illinois. He was employed by Modine Manufacturing for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1987, and belonged to the Modine “20-Year Club.”
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. Robert was formerly involved with the Kiwanis Club of Racine and was instrumental in the building of the pancake machines used for Pancake Day. He enjoyed time with his friends playing cards, golfing and fishing. Above all he treasured time spent with his family, especially attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his three children, Carol J. (James) Zukewich, Robert C. (Marie) Hunter and Patricia A. (William) Bieneman; eight grandchildren, Thomas, Michael (Jennifer), and Scott Zukewich, Ryan, Nathan, and Eric Hunter, Samuel and Sara Bieneman; brothers-in-law, Eugene (Marian) Harkness, John (Mary Grace) Harkness; sister-in-law, Joan Hunter; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Rev. Lester R. Thompson
Rev. Lester R. Thompson, age 89, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at his residence. Lester was born in Tipperary, Iowa, on October 10, 1919, the son of Ray and Doris Thompson. The family later moved to Knoxville, Iowa, where he grew up.
In May of 1940, he graduated from the Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota. In September of that year, he married the former Lucille Ray in Columbus, Ohio.
He was ordained to the ministry in November of 1941, by the late Rev. W. T. Witherspoon in Columbus, Ohio. He later became the Assistant Pastor to Rev. Witherspoon.
In 1948 he moved his family to Wisconsin, where he pastored in Clintonville and Eau Claire. In 1950 he was selected to be the Editor-in-Chief of the Pentecostal Herald, the official magazine of the United Pentecostal Church International, where he served until 1950 when he again moved his family to Wisconsin – this time to Racine, where he pastored at the former Bethel Tabernacle. He later pastored in Bloomington, Indiana, but again returned to Wisconsin, this time to be the founding pastor of the Apostolic Faith Church in Sturtevant (now of Racine).
He was a well-known Bible teacher, and, as such, taught in many parts of the country. Lester Thompson was a gentle, kind-hearted man – a Gentleman. Earth and the ministry has lost a true soldier.
Lester leaves a loving family, of which he was very proud: his wife of nearly 69 years, Lucille; four sons, Gary (Linda), Ronald, Richard (Sharon), Stephen (Sharon); and one daughter, Sheryl (Steve) Wasmundt; ten dear grandchildren, Celeste DeHahn, Ted Thompson, Cindy (Andre) Maki, Renee Carroll, Dulcie Albright, Scott (Melissa) Thompson, Sonya (Philip) Rose, Chad (Lisa) Wasmundt, Holly Wasmundt and Stephanie Wasmundt; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Elsie Thompson. Susan was raised in Racine and graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1966.” She enjoyed sewing, miniature doll houses, and was an avid collector of “Winnie the Pooh” items. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Betty Jane Phillips
Betty Jane (nee: Kitzman) Phillips, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital in West Allis.
Betty was born in Racine on June 13, 1930, to Arthur and Mathilda “Tillie” (nee: Kitzmann) Kitzman. She was a 1948 graduate (first graduating class) of Lutheran High School. Following, she went on to school to become a dental assistant.
On February 29, 1953, in St. John’s Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Richard E. Phillips, who preceded her in death on March 29, 1998. During Dick’s 40-plus year career with Major League Baseball, they lived in various places in their lifetime including Hawaii and Vancouver. When Dick passed away in 1998, Betty moved back to hometown Racine.
A passionate and tireless volunteer dental assistant, Betty served the less fortunate in various communities for many years. However, her first priority in life was being a homemaker, mother and husband’s number one fan.
Betty was a member of Pentecost Ev. Lutheran Church where she enjoyed being involved in church clubs and committees. Proud of her alma mater, she was a dedicated volunteer of the Lutheran High School Thrift Shop. Among her interests, Betty was an avid reader who acquired an extensive library over the years; and enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting. Above all, she loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family.

Betty was born in Racine on June 13, 1930, to Arthur and Mathilda “Tillie” (nee: Kitzmann) Kitzman. She was a 1948 graduate (first graduating class) of Lutheran High School. Following, she went on to school to become a dental assistant.On February 29, 1953, in St. John’s Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Richard E. Phillips, who preceded her in death on March 29, 1998. During Dick’s 40-plus year career with Major League Baseball, they lived in various places in their lifetime including Hawaii and Vancouver. When Dick passed away in 1998, Betty moved back to hometown Racine.
A passionate and tireless volunteer dental assistant, Betty served the less fortunate in various communities for many years. However, her first priority in life was being a homemaker, mother and husband’s number one fan.

Leone M. Anderson, age 94, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2009, at the Becker-Shoop Center. Leone was born in Racine, July 2, 1914, daughter of the late Frank and Antonina (Nee: Rice) Mitchell.

Josephine M. (nee: Sabatino) Rosenquist, 94, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 14, 2009. She was born in Sturtevant on March 11, 1915, the daughter of Lorenzo and Santa (nee: Bruno) Sabatino.
Josephine was united in marriage to Edward R. Rosenquist. She was a longtime member of St. Richard Catholic Church. Josephine retired from JC Penney and was an active volunteer for Harmony. Nothing gave her more joy than being with family and friends.

LeMoyne E. Farnsworth, age 85, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009, at his residence. LeMoyne was born in Elkhart, IN, on October 15, 1923, son of the late Nathan and Wilma (Nee: Yost) Farnsworth.
LeMoyne received a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. During World War II, he served in the United States Air Corps. LeMoyne was employed for many years at Walker Manufacturing, retiring in 1988. Following retirement, he was employed at Cornerstone Design. LeMoyne’s first love was flying and he was actively involved with the EAA. He inspired many Young Eagles with his zest for flying and especially loved flying his home-built biplane. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-three years, Margaret (Nee: Tykal); his three children, Lynn (George) Tatge of Florence, Italy, Kent (Julie) Farnsworth of Ft. Eugene 'Gene' M. Hagemann
Eugene “Gene” M. Hagemann, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, surrounded by his family. Gene was born in Caledonia on August 8, 1924, the son of the late Casper and Stella (nee: Block) Hagemann Sr. He moved to Racine at the age of 7.
Gene served his country with the U.S. Army Air Corps. While stationed in Saipan he flew 35 missions in a B29 Bomber over Tokyo as a right gunner. He survived two crash landings. On July 3, 1949, he was united in marriage to the former Jean M. Fergus. Gene had been employed as a pattern maker by Massey Harris until he founded Nu Wood Cabinet in 1955. He retired in 1986.
Gene was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church for over 78 years, a charter member of the Lathrop Ave. Business Assoc., a Boy Scout leader for St. Ed’s Troop 248, and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 697. He enjoyed all kinds’ woodworking, carving, and deer hunting. Most of his work was generously given to charity for fundraisers and family and friends gifts.
Surviving are his wife, of nearly 60 years, Jean; their children, Terry Graham of Yellow Springs, OH, Paul (Karen) Hagemann of Hurley, WI, Phil (Ryen) Hagemann of Racine, Donna (Bob) Van Caster of Hustisford, WI, and Margo (Joe) Wiesner of Franksville; grandchildren, Dhyana (Justin Crockett) Graham of Columbus, OH, Mahya Graham of Yellow Springs, OH, Chandra (Doug) Jones-Graham, of Ft. Richard P. Pirk, age 67, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Richard was born in Racine, WI, on February 12, 1942, son of the late Walter R. and Gladys (Nee: Peck) Pirk and was a lifelong Racine resident.
Richard proudly served in the United States Navy. On November 25, 1961, at St. Rose Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Judith A. Lema. He was employed for over thirty years by the City of Racine as a street sweeper known to many as “Bumper.” Richard was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and several organizations including: Racine Instinctive Bowman Club, Salmon Unlimited Wisconsin, 5th Street Yacht Club, and ATV Club. For many years he was actively involved with his sons in RYS, Racine Scout Drum and Bugle Corps. and as a Webelo and Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery, boating, bowling and was a die-hard Bears fan. More than anything he treasured time spent with his family and will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

James W. Justman Sr., age 55, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009, at his residence. James was born in Racine on June 20, 1953, son of William O. and Doreen M.(Nee: LeRoux) Justman.
On January 27, 1979, at St. Edward Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Teresa M. Boehme. James was employed by Harley Davidson for a number of years and belonged to the local and national HOG Chapter. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Theodore A. “Ted” Zagar, 76, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Friday, June 12, 2009.
Ted was born in Racine on September 8, 1932, to Anthony and Tina (nee, Jensen) Zagar. Ted graduated from Park High School and attended U.S.C. while serving in the U.S. Air Force. On August 18, 1956, he married the former Barbara Simon in Racine. He retired from J.I. Case Company after more than 37 years of service.
Ted loved to laugh as well as make others laugh. He always enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports. Ted was an avid Brewers and Packers fan and enjoyed playing baseball and bowling. He loved Jazz music and classic cars, frequenting Gus’s and Georgie Porgie’s.
Ted is survived by his wife, Barbara Zagar; children, Kim Marie Zagar, Anthony Wayne (Annamarie) Zagar and Matthew James (Sharon) Zagar; grandchildren, Sarah, Ted, Kerstin, Austin, Ryan, Kyle and Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Meghan, Sophia and Eric; and his brothers and sisters, Susan (Gene) Schatzman, James (Judy) Zagar, Sharon Gottfredson and Gary (Donna) Zagar; and sister-in-law, Beverly Zagar. Mary J. Gahlman
MOUNT PLEASANT – Mary J. Gahlman, 57, died at her residence with her husband by her side. Her 15-year battle with cancer ended on June 12, 2009.
Mary was born in Hartford, WI, on August 20, 1951, to Raymond and Terese (nee: Kennedy) Becker. On September 2, 1972, she married the love of her life, Carl Gahlman. They moved to Sturtevant in 1973 and settled in Racine in 1988.
Mary was a member and enjoyed attending mass at St. Lucy Catholic Church. She also treasured her time spent with her dear friends and the “Birthday Club.” However, Mary was happiest when in the surroundings of her family.
In addition to her devoted husband, Carl, Mary is survived by her mother, Terese Becker of Hartford; brothers and sisters, Richard (Kay) Becker of Hartford, Robert (Maureen) Becker of Janesville, Theresa (Richard) Merkel of St. Charles, IL., Bonnie (Thomas) Callen of Wauwatosa, Paul (Sarah) Becker of Kansas City, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dean Gahlman of Hartford, Mary Joan (Milton) Fuiten of Green Bay, Gerald (Patricia) Gahlman, Carol (James) Nyswonger both of Hartford; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends who meant so much to Mary. Ruth Evelyn Fynn Bass
Ruth Evelyn Fynn Bass, 93, died peacefully on June 11, 2009 at Lincoln Village after a long illness.
She has lived in Racine since 1936. She is survived by two daughters; Kay D’Acquisto,(San Diego,CA) and Barbara Kasper, (Chanhassen MN) and four sons; Tim (Pam) Bass, (Burlington), Tom (Judy) Bass, (Salem, OR), Richard Bass, (Salem, OR) and John Bass, (Racine). She had eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Percy and Ethel Fynn; a brother, P. James; and two sisters, Catherine and Marion.
Ruth was born December 20, 1915, in East St. Louis, IL, where her parents were Salvation Army officers. The family moved several times while she was young. She graduated from Tulsa High School in Oklahoma in 1934. In 1936, she began working at S.C. Johnson in the secretarial pool. For 63 years she lived in the same house on Webster Street where she raised her six children. In 1952 she went back to work, starting at Zahn’s. From there she worked in accounting departments at Massey Fergusen and J.I. Case Co. from which she retired in 1981.
Ruth was always involved in community activities. While her children attended Mitchell School she served as Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader and PTA President. She was also involved with her daughters in the Salvation Army Girl Guard program as well as the S.A. Ladies League. As her children got older she enjoyed the YWCA Wives Club, Racine Garden Club. Racine Woman’s Club, Business and Professional Women’s Association. She was very active in her church choir, Altar Guild, Lincoln Lutheran Woman’s Auxiliary and Seniors Friendship Center. Her hobbies were gardening and her needle work for which she won many ribbons.
We wish to give special thanks to Lincoln Village Convalescent Home and Hospice Alliance for their faithful care. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Hospice Alliance, or your favorite charity in her name.

Mrs. Lorraine D. Lange (nee: Ziesemer) 90, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday June 11, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital- All Saints.
Lorraine Lange was born in Racine to the late Carl and Lydia (nee: Potterville) Ziesemer on March 20, 1919, and had lived her entire life in Racine. On May 2, 1942, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Lange.
Mrs. Lange was employed as a clerk at Haddon's for many years. She was a dedicated member of Racine Bible Church for 43 years. She attended numerous Bible studies and loved serving as a Phoebe at Racine Bible Church.
Lorriane is survived by her three daughters, Judy Wood of Racine, Donna (Jim) Paddock of Texas, and Faythe (Guy) Ladd of Racine; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Chadek, Joyce Rohner, and Janet Green; two special friends, Elaine Andersen and Lois Dykstra; and many other relatives and friends. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, William, and her sister, Virginia Creuziger.

With her loving family by her side, Wendy M. Will, 59, passed away Thursday evening, June 11, 2009, at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Wendy was born in Milwaukee on July 7, 1949, daughter of Charles and Eleanor (Nyman) Niles.
Always a gifted learner, Wendy graduated Valedictorian from Pulaski High School at sixteen years old. She later earned her master's degree in Spanish from Marquette University. On August 18, 1999, in Lake Geneva she was united in marriage to Kevin L. Will. Wendy shared her love for Spanish educating hundreds of students at The Prairie School from 1981 until this past year. Throughout her life, she also enjoyed working with her family at the Seven Mile Fair, which her parents originated. A very fashionable dresser, Wendy enjoyed shopping and loved her many travels abroad to Spain. Most of all she treasured time spent with her family and will be forever remembered as an elegant lady who exemplified the true spirit of love, integrity, dedication and strength to all those she encountered.

Ali enjoyed praising her Lord at United Faith Missionary Baptist Church. With a friendly personality and infectious smile, she worked as a successful sales associate for Toys-R-Us, Kohl’s, Burlington Coat Factory, Boston Store and Waxdale. Among her interests, Ali was passionate about her music, movies, computer, styling her hair and, of course, being a Mom. Above all, Ali will be remembered for her God-given gift of giving unto others.

Elizabeth T. Hansen, age 84, passed away Monday, June 8, 2009, at Timber Oaks, Union Grove, WI. Elizabeth was born in East Chicago, Indiana, on April 27, 1925, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary J. (Nee: Czap) Nyiri and had been a resident of Racine since 1926.
She attended St. Patrick Grade School and William Horlick High School. Appleton - Ms. June Kitchingman, 97 passed away on June 8, 2009, at Rennes Health and Rehab Center.
June Kitchingman was born in Racine on July 4, 1911, to the late Ray and Mildred (nee: Sodomka) Kitchingman and lived in Racine for over 95 years.

William K. “Cool Jack” Carter, 66, was called Home by his Lord and Savior, on Monday, June 8, 2009.
William was born in Myrtle, MS, on April 1, 1943, the son of Isaac and Maebell (nee: Talley) Carter Sr. William was united in marriage to Essie B. Smith, in 1977, in Racine.
William was self-employed as an automobile mechanic. He loved tinkering with cars and watching western movies. William attended Higher Dimensions Church here in Racine, under the leadership of his son, Pastor Adrian D. Malone, and never missed a Sunday service.
Left to cherish his memory are his seven children; Timothy Smith, William (Wanda) Smith, Cassandra (Pastor Adrian) Malone, William Gentry Russell, twins Chavan and Cherika Smith, and Cedrick Evans; 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his mother, Maebell Johnson; his brothers, Eugene (Lu Ella) Carter and Alfred L. “Bubba” Carter; his sisters, Lula Grace Little, Ruby (Finner) Hopkins and Deloise McLemore; his special friends, Clarence King and Grace Little, all of Racine; nieces, nephews, church family, other relatives and friends. Robert P. 'Bob' Resch
Robert P. Resch, age 81, left this world Sunday, June 7, 2009, to join his wife, Pauline, who just passed away this past 26th of February. Robert was born in Pearson, WI, on March 2, 1928, son of the late Adolph and Barbara (nee: Hayek) Resch.
Bob proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On August 27, 1955, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Pauline M. Learned. He was last employed with Michael’s Machine Company until his retirement in 1999. He had previously been employed with Quad Machine for over twenty years. Bob was a jack of all trades who could fix anything. He was a generous man who would give you the shirt off his back. He will be best remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his three children, Lonnie (Sandy) Resch, Doreen (Dave) Lee, all of Racine, Corene (Steve) Trowbridge of Mt. Shirley F. Gilhart
Union Grove - Shirley Florence Gilhart (nee: Jorgensen) passed away peacefully at Oak Ridge Care Center on Saturday, June 6, 2009. She was 83.
Shirley was a cherished daughter of the late Peter and Emily (nee: Wood) Jorgensen. She was born in Racine on October 30, 1925. She remained a life-long resident of this city. Following high school, she married U.S. Air Force veteran, Stuart L. Gilhart at St. John's Lutheran Church in Racine on July 29,1950. Stuart preceded Shirley in death on July 12, 2008.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. As family matriarch, Shirley found little time for herself but was an avid bowler and enjoyed an occasional game of Bingo. Family was all-important to Shirley, they were the center of her life, and her devotion to her husband, children and many other descendants will be remembered by those she loved. Throughout her life she was exceptionally close to her late brothers and sisters and remained especially close to her surviving sister-in-law, Evelyn Jorgensen of Racine.
Shirley is survived by her children, Sherri Tompkins and Shelley Gilhart, both of Racine, and Stacy (Susan) Gilhart of Vernon Hills, IL. In addition to her children, Shirley will be deeply missed by 14 grandchildren as well as great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Thomas 'Van' VanBrunt Shields
Thomas “Van” VanBrunt Shields, 69, passed away peacefully at his new home on Saturday, June 6, 2009.
Van was born in Racine on October 26, 1939. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps Infantry. He was also an outstanding runner, earning many awards during high school and his time with the Marine Corps track team. Van retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1985, after which he ran deliveries for his son, Van, at Liberty Appraisal Service, making many friends along the way.
In addition to his time with the postal service, Van owned and operated Van’s Window Cleaning and Janitorial Service, which has proudly served Racine for the past 45 years, and this legacy continues today into the third generation with his sons and grandsons.
In his younger days, Van was well known for his customized hot rod vehicles. He also enjoyed spending countless hours in his workshop creating items that were meaningful to his family, even making his own furniture. Among his many accomplishments in life, one of which was to be a 32nd degree Mason, his proudest was his family and the time he spent with them. His greatest gift to his family, friends and those he met along the way, was his example of love, kindness and humility.
Van will be profoundly missed by his children, Van (Liz) Shields, Tamara (Steve) Wiberg, David (Susan) Shields and Timothy Shields; and grandchildren, David, Meghan, Steven, Haley, Madison, Sam, Sophie, Maddy, John, Zachary, Kyler and Quinn. Lydia 'Louise' Weber
Lydia “Louise” Weber, 91, passed away at Wheaten Franciscan Hospital - All Saints on Saturday June 6, 2009. She was born in Racine on March 21, 1918, the daughter of Fred and Estella (nee: Fischer) Lassen.
Louise was united in marriage to John “Jack” Weber on September 27, 1941, in Racine at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, a church usher, and a Sunday school and confirmation teacher. Louise was a long-time Girl Scout leader and teacher's aide, was very active with the River Bend Nature Center as a volunteer and guide. She found great enjoyment in painting watercolors, attending the Fireside Theatre and travel throughout the United States, and overseas, especially traveling down the Amazon River in her later years.

She is further survived by grandniece, Alyssa Hein of Florida; and two grandnephews, Christopher Hein of Kenosha and Eric Roszina of South Milwaukee, along with other relatives and dear friends. Louise was preceded in death by he husband, John “Jack” on July 19, 1974; and one sister, Jean Roszina on November 18, 2006.
Funeral Services will be held at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 322 Ohio St., on Wednesday June 10, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. M.A. Miritz officiating. Burial will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Louise was united in marriage to John “Jack” Weber on September 27, 1941, in Racine at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, a church usher, and a Sunday school and confirmation teacher. Louise was a long-time Girl Scout leader and teacher's aide, was very active with the River Bend Nature Center as a volunteer and guide. Virginia K. Sucharda, age 88, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Green Bay, WI, on July 24, 1920, daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie (Nee: Mercier) Piron and was raised in Escanaba, MI.
On February 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Glen J. Sucharda and they moved to Racine. Virginia worked as a waitress at the Elk’s Club for 25 years. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She was a wonderful quilter and excellent seamstress. She also enjoyed camping and traveling. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are three children, Jean (Charles) Coupe of Racine, Joseph (Barbara) Sucharda of Burlington and Susan (Timothy) Stindle of Racine; 10 grandchildren, Laura (Brian) Hanneman, David (Anne) Coupe, Mary (Jason) Newitzki, Joseph (Rhonda) Sucharda, Stephanie (Sean) Manley, Babette (Mike) Peterson, Becky (Chuck) Mesec, Bonnie (Paul) Bauman, Timothy Stindle Jr, Katie (Anthony) McBain; 23 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Theresa) Piron; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Mary Jule (nee, Brodell) Wunsch, 60, passed away at Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints on Thursday, June 4, 2009.
Mary was born in Racine on February 22, 1949, to Donald and Kathleen (nee, McGuire) Brodell. She retired in 2006 from SC Johnson & Sons after more than 36 years of service and was a member of the 20-Year Club.
Mary was an active member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church including Alpha, was in charge of the Prayer Circle and was Secretary of the Vestry. She was an avid reader and loved a good joke. Mary was known for her contagious laugh and wonderful smile, but most of all she was a very giving person and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children, SSgt. Barry Wunsch and Megan (Shawn) Wilder; grandchildren, Sara, Trevor and Kaylee; her mother, Kathleen Brodell; sister, Donna (John) Prochacka; brother, John (Karilyn) Brodell; niece, Chrissy (Jim) Jacobsen; great-nieces, Rylee and Caitlyn; special cousin, Jim Kruse; and her partner, Wally Herman and his family. Mary is also survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father.

Martha M. (Druar) Bestul
Martha M. Bestul, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2009. Martha was born in Mt. Carmel, North Dakota, on May 9, 1920, daughter of the late Michael and Balbina (Nee: Koehmstedt) Druar.
On April 27, 1949, at St. Mark Catholic Church, St. Paul, MN she was united in marriage to Harold G. Bestul, who preceded her in death on January 28, 2004. Martha and Harold owned and operated a family dairy farm for numerous years until their retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galloway, WI, and St. Bronislava, Plover, WI. Martha enjoyed embroidery, cross stitch, reading, puzzles, card games, baking and fishing; but more than anything she treasured time spent with her family and will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Orville R. Canfield
Somers – Orville Ross Canfield, 79, beloved husband of Patricia J. (nee: Jornt) Canfield, was born into Eternal Life on Wednesday evening, June 3, 2009.
Orv was born in Racine on September 6, 1929, to the late Orville H. and Clara (nee: Janssen) Canfield. Baptized at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, he attended St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School, Racine and graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1948.
Orv faithfully served our Country with the United States Army- 82nd Airborne in the Korean War. On September 6, 1952, in St. George Catholic Church, Kenosha, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Patricia J. Jornt.
Living and breathing the color “brown” for so many years, Orv was proudly employed by United Parcel Service (known worldwide as UPS) beginning in 1952. He was transferred by UPS to Phoenix / Tucson, AZ, for nearly 9 years; then to Laguna Hills, CA, for 21 years, retiring in 1989. Shortly after, Orv and Pat moved back home to Kenosha.
With a profound faith, Orv was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was honored to have been chosen as Godfather to 13 family members and friends. He was an involved member of the Kenosha Family and Aging Council; past-chairman of the “Meals on Wheels” program; devoted volunteer with the escort / transport service program which assisted many residents throughout our community. Orv was also a member of the Danish Brotherhood. Among his interests, Orv enjoyed woodworking, especially handcrafting doll houses and cradles; was an accomplished photographer; and a true Walt Disney fanatic. Above all, Orv loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family.
Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 57 years, Pat of Somers; their daughter, Joan Marie (Lyle) Moody of Yuma, AZ; granddaughter, Virginia (Carl) Palm of Alameda, CA; brother, Roger (Betty) Canfield; sister, Barbara Girton; sisters-in-law, Judith Canfield, Earlene (Mark) Girman, Juanita (Robert) Becker and Rachel (Bill) Zahn; extended family members, the Robert and Suzanne Moran family; and the Joseph and Jean Ruddy family; special friends, Jean and Bill Kaisler; Lori and Gary Karasti; Randy Smith; Jerry and Marie Soczynski; many dear nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.

Louise M. Wildes
Louise M. Wildes, 82, was called by the Lord to be reunited with her late husband, Dale, her one true love, on Tuesday June 2, 2009.
Louise was born on October 13, 1926, in Maple Valley Wisconsin, the oldest daughter of thirteen children to Ira and Ruby (Smoot) Phillips. Louise was united in marriage to Dale E. Wildes on January 3, 1946.
She was an active church member of the former Bethany United Methodist Church, where she was very involved in the church choir, Women’s Club, and taught Sunday school. Louise found her place in life dedicating everything to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She gave freely and willingly her support and love to her immediate family, extended family and all that had the privilege and joy of knowing her. Her talents and joy in and outside of her home were passed down to all that met and loved her.
Louise is survived by two sons, Eugene (Christine) Wildes of Menomonie and David (Nancy) Wildes of Racine; and two daughters, Linda (Larry) Krahn of Black River Falls and Doreen (Jeffrey) Burnside of Franklin; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy, Mary, Alice and Barbara; and two brothers, Floyd and Leonard. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Louise was preceded in eternal life by her husband, Dale Wildes, on March 9, 1991, her brothers, Alan (KIA) USMC, serving in the Korean Conflict, Carl, Herb, Dean and Les.
Louise was a resident of Racine for almost 50 years; she was employed at Southern Wisconsin Center and Westview Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at the Sturino Funeral Home on Saturday June 6, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. Entombment next to he husband, Dale, will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be visitation at Sturino Funeral Home on Friday, June 5, 2009, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, June 6, 2009, from 9:30 to service time at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Louise is survived by two sons, Eugene (Christine) Wildes of Menomonie and David (Nancy) Wildes of Racine; and two daughters, Linda (Larry) Krahn of Black River Falls and Doreen (Jeffrey) Burnside of Franklin; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy, Mary, Alice and Barbara; and two brothers, Floyd and Leonard. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Louise was preceded in eternal life by her husband, Dale Wildes, on March 9, 1991, her brothers, Alan (KIA) USMC, serving in the Korean Conflict, Carl, Herb, Dean and Les.
Louise was a resident of Racine for almost 50 years; she was employed at Southern Wisconsin Center and Westview Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at the Sturino Funeral Home on Saturday June 6, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. Entombment next to he husband, Dale, will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be visitation at Sturino Funeral Home on Friday, June 5, 2009, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, June 6, 2009, from 9:30 to service time at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. John Fleming of Evangelical United Methodist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wisconsin Parkinson’s Association would be greatly appreciated, by the Wildes family.

Dorothy P. (Peterson) Sucharda
Dorothy P. Sucharda, age 87, passed away Tuesday June 2, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Dorothy was born in Gary, Indiana, on January 14, 1922, daughter of the late Bert and Margaret (Nee: Baess) Peterson.
Dorothy was a graduate of William Horlick High School and a cheerleader for the “Class of 1937.” On October 28, 1938, in Dubuque, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Lee E. Sucharda Sr. who preceded her in death, August 23, 1993. Dorothy and her family owned and operated Lee’s Charcoal Grill on Douglas Avenue for twenty years. She was also employed by Design North for thirty years. She was a member of Grace Church. Dorothy’s pastimes included fishing, gardening, reading, and volunteering for community projects. Most of all she treasured time spent with her family at their summer home in Three Lakes. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Lee (Gail) Sucharda Jr.; her grandson, Lee (Loni) Sucharda III; her granddaughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Orth; her four great-grandchildren, Paulina and Alec Sucharda, Gabriella and Jonathon Orth; sister-in-law, Virginia Sucharda; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Kathleen A. (nee: Kriofsky) Born, 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center.
Kathy was born in Kenosha on December 27, 1936, to the late Charles and Ruth (nee: Meyer) Kriofsky. On July 16, 1955, in Kenosha, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Ralph Charles Born, Sr., having been Racine residents all their married life.
Kathy and Ralph enjoyed working at Twin Disc for 32 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Twin Disc 20-Year Club. Passionate about sewing and quilting, she enjoyed sharing her hobby with friends at Sew 'N Save of Racine. Always placing her family as priority one in life, Kathy was an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who treasured every moment of being in their surroundings.
Surviving are her loving husband of nearly 54 years, Ralph, Sr. of Racine; son, Ralph (Kathy) Born, Jr. of El Paso, TX; daughters, Jackie (Brian) Haley and Lori (Jerry) Moran, both of Racine; grandchildren, Adam (Anna), Danny and Jared Born; Jennifer and Shawn Haley; Carly Robbins and Carie (Bryann Christensen) Robbins; David, Gary (Tricia) Melissa and Kelley Moran; great-grandchildren, Amaya Robbins, Jenna Christensen, Kevin, Ashley and Taylor Moran; sister, Judy (Larry) Neuling; brothers, Jimmy and Robert (Jean) Kriofsky; brothers-in-law, Earl (Judith) and John (Cindy) Born; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.

Henry 'Hank' Gement
Henry “Hank” Gement, 90, passed away in Wheaton Franciscan Hospital-All Saints on Monday, June 1, 2009. He was born in Racine on February 9, 1919, the son of the late Bernard and Rose (nee: Burken) Gement.
Hank served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was stationed in Europe. On March 21, 1942, in St. Mark Catholic Church, Kenosha, he was united in marriage to the former Roma Beaudin. He had been employed by the J.I. Case Co. for over 28 years, retiring in 1982. Hank was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, a former member of the Holy Name Society, and the Case 20-Year Club. Hank enjoyed golfing, fishing and genealogy.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 67 years, Roma; their children, Barbara (Hal) Emmerson of Salem, OR, Richard (Donna) Gement of Houston, TX, Ted (Becky) Gement of Racine and David (Veronica Sutton) Gement of Paddock Lake, WI; 11 grandchildren, Vikki, Cheryl, Diane, Mark, Robert, Trevor, Timothy, Tara, Grace, Joshua and Mindy; 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great- great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and extended family of Walnut Grove. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Matthew Gement, and three sisters, Eleanor Seymour, Sr. Grace Bernard, and Sr. Rosetta.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church on Saturday, June 6, at 10 a.m. with Rev. William J. Dietzler officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and in the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park.
